    • Ram Diesel truck hands down beats Ford and Chevy

By Deadeye on Friday, March 29, 2019

I want to start out by listing the different diesel trucks I have owned in the past: 1997 Ford F250 with 7.3 diesel, 2001 Chevrolet 2500 Duramax, 2004 Ford F350 6.0 aka Sick-O, 2012 Ram 2500 Cummins, 2017 Ram 3500 Cummins. Both Ram trucks that I have owned have been the most reliable and have performed perfectly towing. I currently tow a 40' Fifth wheel camper that is 13,500 pounds dry . On another note. Ram backs their product more than Ford. I have never had an issue with Ram like I have with Ford motor company. Prime example: Ford knew of the problems with the 6.0 diesel and strung owners along right up to the end of the warranty then kicked the owners to the curb. At 80,000 miles, I was stuck with a 5 year old truck that was blowing coolant and oil out the exhaust. On the other hand. I had a problem once with the 2012 Ram diesel particulate filter and Ram took care of the $3500 repair even though it was out of warranty by 10,000 miles.

I owned over 30 maybe even 40 F-250-350's and several Chevrolet/GMC which arent even worth mentioning. Ive never had a truck that after a few months there wasn't something i had a complaint about . I liked this ram 3500 a little more every time i got in it . Ive always been hard to impress and not only did this truck really impress me but after 3 years it still does . I never owned a ram untill i was 44 years old but i will never be without one now.

I bought my truck new for work and it has given me very few problems. It has plenty of power and very reliable. I like all the features of the Tradesman. Truck is a srw 6.7 with the 68rfe trans. In almost 500k, I have had the following major repairs; Wheel bearings failed, Had an injector fail, Transfer case failed. There is a lot to know about how to maintain these trucks and not every dealer knows how to service them, so do your research on who will service it.
